PLA cups are gaining share in cold drinks because they combine a clear, PET-like look with a renewable, plant-based feedstock. When industrial composting is available, certified PLA cups divert food-service waste from landfill.

Resin prices for PLA have become more competitive over the past two years, narrowing the gap with PET. For chains that standardize on one cold cup, the switch cost is often recovered through waste-management savings.

PLA is best suited to cold and ambient service: milk tea, smoothies, desserts and chilled salads. It is not designed for hot liquid or oven use, so buyers should match the cup grade to the serving temperature.

Quanwei supplies PLA cups from 250 to 700 ml with flat, dome and printed lids, plus custom printing and IML options. Certificates for industrial compostability are available with each order.
